We support initiatives that help build economic capacity and resilience on our islands. We promote existing businesses and encourage new businesses to establish themselves here.
We consider our islands' values in all of our efforts and we invest in projects that improve our infrastructure and that help maintain and improve the quality of life of all community members.

The Discovery Islands Chamber of Commerce is primarily concerned with helping local businesses thrive, by providing a forum to discuss and develop local business issues and initiatives. Our goal is for our island community to have a strong, sustainable and resilient economy.
We have regular monthly meetings on the third Thursday of each month. The location and times vary to keep attendance interesting and accessible at some point in the year by as many members as possible. The time, date and location of each meeting is broadcast to the membership by email, along with an agenda in advance of the meeting. Executive meetings are held as required.
In the past, areas of focus have included the development of a co-operative tourism marketing program developed by DestinationBC the Community Tourism Opportunities program. Both Quadra and Cortes islands have active tourism groups who work as standing committees of the chamber. You can learn more about each of them here: Quadra Island Tourism and the Cortes Island Business and Tourism Association
As part of a strong and vibrant community the Chamber actively supports local cultural events, recreation and education. The Chamber is involved with a variety of successful events and festivals and continues to encourage and/or sponsor activities with a positive economic and community effect.
Our showcase community event is the annual Canada Day celebration every July 1st on Quadra Island.
